Reception for the 30 Yrs. Anniversaire of Au Vieux Paris Antiques 1985-2015

Chers Amis. Bonjour et Bravo!! Au Vieux Paris Antiques had its official beginning in 1985 which makes this year its 30th year!

WOW!! 30 years has meant about 80 trips to France, a few thousand antiques delivered both locally as well as coast to coast in the US, a website, many many open house parties, the “L’Ecole de Bon Goût” blog, .......! Now some of my clients are the children of my first clients from my early years in operation svp.

To celebrate this momentous 30th year anniversaire, as well as a new shipment of great antiques just in from France, there will be an open house on Sunday the 8th of March from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm.

Besides both sweet and savory refreshments, there will be three grand door prizes, over 100 items with extra special discounted prices, and many fun surprises to be experienced!!!

Make a day of it by eating in Breaux Bridge at Café des Amis, (337.507.3398), Buck and Johnny’s (337.442.6630) or Crazy Bout Crawfish (337.332.3071). Or if you are from out of town, make it a BB weekend in a B&B by checking out tourism.breauxbridgelive.com or www.breauxbridgeacc.com.

Plus: Samir Elhelou will have a splendid display of antique rugs and tapestries for sale on the gallery of the “Petite Maison” here on the grounds of Au Vieux Paris!

Please plan to come help us celebrate and invite friends to join you, svp.

"20 Years of Passion, Château du Champ de Bataille"

Chers Amis de L’Ecole du Bon Goût,  Bonjour! There is a spectacular new virtual “Bible of Bon Goût” just out in print.   “Jacques Garcia, Twenty Years of Passion, Château du Champ de Bataille”. This 400 page book is not only fabulously illustrated with glorious photography, but also a very interesting read chronicling M. Garcia’s twenty year quest to bring his completely audacious dream into three dimensional reality!

M. Garcia’s taste is truly beyond reproach in his countless architectural, landscape and interior decors resulting from his extensive personal knowledge of the various periods employed, joined with his keen eye for the balance of complex compositions and his somewhat daring but always successful color palette.

His enormous collection of superb furniture and fine art, much of which is of royal provenance, is mind boggling to say the very least! The entire ensemble of acres of manicured formal gardens and water features, the unusual architectural composition of the château itself,  plus the collection contained therein, compares well to, if not excels, most major chateaux in France!

This “encyclopedia” is available from Amazon for about $75 delivered and can be had in the original French text or a very good English translation.  So give yourself a real treat that will keep on giving you images of the best Bon Goût for years to come!! See below some photos from the book to give you just a small taste of this exceptional work!

St. Valentine's Day!!!

Chers Amis de l’Ecole du Bon Goût”, Bonjour !! February 14th, St. Valentine’s day, named for a 3rd century Roman saint, gives everybody a great opportunity to let the special person (or persons) in their life know that they are so very dear !! Candy, flowers and cards are certainly tried and true methods of communicating your affections, but if you would like to make a more sensational and long lasting expression of your appreciation, I suggest a gift of “Bon Goût” from Au Vieux Paris Antiques.

You could also consider a two part gift. For example: a set of antique champagne flutes with a chilled bottle of bubbly to go with them, or an old Paris porcelain vase with fresh roses in it, or a set of silver dinner forks and spoons and a catered meal sent in just for the two of you!!

With two recent shipments of antiques just in, I see many imaginative possibilities here in the shop!  If you would like to work up a truly memorable gift, be it fine art, silver, stemware, candlesticks or other lighting or ...., please give me a call and we can select something special together. I will be happy to wrap it in some extravagant yet of course “Bon Goût” way!!!

If you can’t come in person, visit the website at  Au Vieux Paris Antiques.
